This site-specific installation was built to be included in Toronto’s one night, all night public art event, Nuit Blanche. Five replicas of actual tornado shelters were built in the backyards of a group of Victorian houses slated for demolition. The slated demo was to allow for the construction of an exclusive condominium. I spent the night inside one of the shelters and communicated with members of the audience using a walkie-talkie. Visitors spoke with me from behind a fence as they were not allowed on the site as it was considered a construction zone.
